Behind the Walls Talk

A blog giving insight to the hearts and minds of those behind the prison walls.

SRG Part 1

There’s this label that NCDAC places upon prisoners they consider to be part of a gang or have some type of affiliation and it is called SRG (Security Risk Group). They have different levels to this program with level 3 being the most active down to level 1 and then you have affiliation which is a watch list. It is another label to place on the ones they consider to be a threat to their corrupted system. I am going to break this post down in parts because there is so much to say on this matter, and I want to make sure you have a full understanding of what is happening here. So first I will speak on myself because they consider me to be a level three. They have me labeled in the computer under Folk Nation and I am a Black Disciple, one that is for the community, uplifting it and bringing our brothers and sisters out of the struggles they have faced since the abolishment of slavery and the ratification of the 13th Amendment. I seek human rights, the right to be treated as a human being with equal protection under the constitution. I was labeled SRG at Lanesboro Correctional with no evidence whatsoever as to who they say I was. I have never had a A-14, which is gang infraction or being involved in any gang activities since being incarcerated, but by who I associate myself with, they assumed who I was. That’s not plausible or solid. This is how they do though, they just be labeling guys without any evidence whatsoever, purely by their discretion. And with this label you will be subjected to a urinalysis test every month, a locker/cell search whenever at any given time. I cannot get a job outside of the dorm, when those are the only jobs available, I only can have a visit from immediate family members and that is behind a glass, I only get two phone calls a week and to earn those privileges back such as jobs, phone time and visits, I will have to go to this SRG program they have set up at Foothills Correctional to have my levels brought down and they are not allowing me to go there. They say I will always consider to be a threat and that’s only because of my intelligence and my dedication to justice and peace in America. Part two coming soon.
