Behind the Walls Talk presents to you a very important topic I know that needs and requires the attention of the head administration in the North Carolina Department of Adult Corrections by our viewers, listeners, and comrades who have residents and interests in this prison industrial complex. The construction of this banned list by the NCDAC is prejudice, bias, and capitalistic beyond recognition. I’ve had the privilege and opportunity to read and view a lot of the books, magazines, and newspapers on the banned list and nowhere do I see a threat to the security of this prison industrial complex unless you want to call the upliftment and empowerment of the Black man a threat. This system supposed to be about rehabilitation, which is stated in their mission statement, but they will ban material that can give us this self-realization and allow hate groups that consider themselves to be white nationalists to receive books about white supremacy, Hitler, and Nazi Regime as well as the Confederacy that they feel encourages, uplift, and empowers them to the state of rehabilitation. Look at this list and see how many Black authors and Black publications are banned compared to the White authors and White publications that are banned!
They say all the magazines and books on the list that show women clad in their bikinis or lingerie (GoViral, Straight Stuntin, PhatPuffs, etc.) and speak of sexual encounters (Penthouse letters, Zane books, Cummin for you series, etc.) are too sexually explicit. We are in the Department of Adult Corrections, the main part of that title in which we are adults, meaning that we are grown and many of us have kids of our own. Not to mention that this American society’s biggest advertisement is sex!
So, what is really going on here? I also look at it from this angle. We have televisions in here and we have movies on our tablets which show and projects every reason they have for banning these books, magazines, and newspapers from being read and seen at our disposal for a price presented to us from GTL (Global Tel Link), a profiteer of this prison industrial complex and NCDAC who also profits as well. Is it that these profiteers of this prison industrial complex don’t want Black authors or publishers profiting from its residents when they have no part in it as to why they’re really banning these books, magazines, and newspapers? In the movies on the tablets we see the most violence, sexual acts occurring, nudity, guns, gangs (gang violence), rape, child molestation, incest, insurrections, etc. every reason they have for banning books, magazines, and newspapers on this ban list, but is acceptable on these tablets only because the NCDAC is profiting off it! So, the final question is, why is it that we can have access and watch such substance being projected on these tablets that is way worser than the substance that’s subject to being restricted and banned in these books, magazines, and newspapers? I rest my case!
