For all those who sent an email pertaining to the uncleanness of the dormitory area in which the residents here at Scotland Correctional are subject to reside in, nothing has been done. One day we were escorted out of the dorm and placed in the gym for the dormitory to be cleaned by a few other incarcerated men whom the Unit Manager Mrs. Bass deem as reliable, but they was not able to break the surface of the scum and mold on the on the air conditioning unit throughout the dorm, so they gave up and nothing else was done or even said about it! We are still subjected to breathing in mold and dust that clogs up the air conditioning system and ventilation systems. There is still mold in the shower areas, red worms coming out of drains, roaches coming out of the water fountains, and just nastiness everywhere. There supposedly was a virtual inspection done by Raleigh, so they are very aware of the unclean conditions of the dorms, but nothing has been done and seems as if nothing is trying to be done about it. We will continue to push emails, file grievances, make phone calls, and spreading the word of what is going on behind these walls until they fixed the conditions of this facility and all others that do not meet the standards of adequate housing. Thank you all who have rallied with us to help rectify these concerns and living conditions. We will continue to fight. Below are two responses from two of the members of the House of Representatives, which was just a response they gave to act like things are being taken care of. Which we know that they are not. Mr. Garland Pierce was not forthcoming when asked “What concerns did you have after you visited the facility in your district?” It was completely ignored and instead moved on inquiring about the emails that were sent, and he was not aware of. Mr. Danny Britt did send the same response as the other sent by Mr. Garland. “Happy to hear your concerns are being addressed.” Which is not the truth and sounds like they do not care if it is or not.
