When I think of a second chance, I think of how I use to look at it to how I look at it now. When I first came to prison I had no vision, I couldn’t see what was in front of me and didn’t know what to expect. I was lost in an unknown world. I am a quick learner and have a lot of courage, so I learned to survive and then I learned to thrive. At that point all I needed was the right person by my side who believes in me and trusts me, and I found that person in my fiancé Frankie Faulk. She completes me in many ways that I never expected, and she is a blessing that I will forever be grateful for. Now my second chance looks a little different because now I have a website, behind the walls talk, a business (nilejewel LLC), a degree in Sociology from UNC Chapel Hill, a credit score of 700+, my own personal/business bank accounts, and I am working on a nonprofit corporation that will bring about social change. A second chance for me now is clear to see and within my reach, with so much excitement building up within me. I know I’m going to be successful and prosperous, not only for myself but for my family as well and then my community. The impact that I make will be felt around the world. We are actively working on getting laws changed that could help free me and so many others. FREE ME!
