Matthew 25 Center at Tabor City
“And the king will answer them, I tell you the truth, just as you did it for one of the least of these brothers or sisters of mine, you did it for me.’ Matthew 25:40
Today my fiancé had the opportunity to meet and tour the center. She met Tammie and David Keyes at the center, greeted her with hugs and smiles. The husband and wife were very welcoming to her, giving her the tour that Tammie led and information on how the center came about with all the volunteers from the community was a beautiful thing to see my wife told me. We learned about the Matthew 25 Center from someone who stays there when she visits her loved one. She travels over 100 miles to come visit him. When we looked up the website and saw the services that they provided. Tammie gave the tour, and the pictures will be down below as well. A little bit of information about the center is that they are a nonprofit organization that helps families that travel long distances to visit their loved ones in correctional facilities. The one that Tammie and David work at is not too far from Tabor Correctional. Matthew 25 has two centers, one in Tabor City and the other in Burgaw, North Carolina. Tabor City center provides a place to stay, a light meal, emotional support, and spiritual support for free because of donations and support. There are 4 different rooms with such great names Serenity, Hope, Grace, and Peace. All four can hold a family of four and have private bathrooms in each. The room named Serenity is the handicap accessible bathroom. The colors of each room were different. Blankets that are donated and handmade by a church. Kids playroom with toys and books available. This center was described as a very nice place to stay. Very safe and secure as well. The areas of facilities are the counties Bladen, Brunswick, Columbus, and Robeson. Now if you live in Robeson County and visit Tabor City you are not in the range of milage, which is understandable it is not that far to drive. But families that travel for hours to get to these facilities can make appointments with them and have their visits scheduled. I will post their website as well so anyone who needs to utilize their services can. We all know how expensive it can be with hotels, or even driving down the same day and returning the same day can be a lot for a person. Matthew 25 provides a safe place to help with families seeing the loved ones. They understand the importance of us having contact with our family and how it can help with rehabilitation, and not coming back to prison. The website is posted, pictures, and more information about this center. I hope that this information will help families who travel stay connected, and that the Matthew 25 Centers continue to be a blessing to the communities.
Thank you to Tammie and David Keyes
